Title Sequence Ideas.

mock+up.jpg

This image is an idea towards our title sequence. Storyboards will be added to show the whole of our title sequence, for the beginning of the title sequence the look we are basing it on from this a young girl looking mysterious holding onto her book tightly. Such as the picture shown above. She will be running up the stairs whilst the camera zoomed in and cropping into her arms around her drawing book. This will carry on with her running up the stairs approaching her bedroom door, the door will show that it is a girly bedroom. The young girl will run into her bedroom with the door slamming behind her we will then see her slam her book on the bed which will show the title of the film 'REFLECTION'. Our group was thinking of an idea which could be showing an extreme close up of her looking down at the book, grinning. It will then zoom to the book and show each page turning and revealing our title sequence.

Typography Ideas for REFLECTION.

Here are some ideas of typography for our title sequence...REFLECTION. We have chosen the idea of the text looking like it has been drawn out or sketched due to the fact it would be written by a child. We have not came with a finalized decision for the typography yet but shall post the final typography of what we will be using.

This is mine and Jacks film pitch, we pitched this for the task of matching it with the company we were given which was Working Titles. I feel we done well at this task and included what is needed in a film pitch, the only query we had was the lead actress. From getting feedback from the class we would change this to someone known.

Analysation Of 'Gatacca'.

The film our group is choosing to is a psychological horror/thriller. The film i have chosen to do is 'Gattaca'.

GATTACA.

http://www.watchthetitles.com/articles/00114-Gattaca

From watching the title sequence 'Gattaca'. The name of the film is based on four DNA bases that are 'Guanine, Thymine, Cytosine and Adenine'. In the title sequence they focus on the letter of each of the DNAs i have mentioned above. The reason i think i can choose this film title sequence to compare to our psychological film idea is throughout the title sequence shreddings and cuttings are shown. They are skin, hair, facial hair and dandruff this could be towards the DNA.

The lead male actor Ethan Hawke is shown at the end of the title sequence shaving his beard, i think i can find it similar to our idea is because he is shaving his body hair, shaving the top layer of the skin of his fingers also cutting his hair and getting rid of dandruff. These are different types of things that can be used towards DNA. You could think he has committed a murder due to the fact he is getting rid of skin and hair, this we can relate to our film due to the fact the young girl is killing people and will have to hide herself from doing this.

The lighting comes across gloomy and dim but you are not neccessary able to see everything clearly that is shown in the title sequence. The colour blue is shown, a darker blue on top of the screen fading into a very light blue being more on the outerside whilst the middle looking white, this similarly looks like a light is being shon in the centre of the screen as well as down on what looks like a floor. The mood of the title sequence makes you feel mysterious and whether is a murder 'Ethan Hawke is commiting or has done.

Michael Riley Presentation.

Michael Riley Presentation.

The title sequence designer i chose to do was Michael Riley. In the presentation i included a short biography about him based on what he done to get to where he is today and awards he has won. Also showing a few films that he has done the title sequences for and lastly analyzed two other films he has done which were 'Gattaca' and 'Along Came A Spider'.

Audiences and Institutions

Aim-
To be able to indicate how film distribution works.
To begin to understand the difference between the US and UK film systems.

What is the purpose of a film distributor?

Self Promotion

Film Distribution:
-Is the link between the producer and the exhibitions (the cinema chains, television networks); their aim is to get many people as possible to see the film.
-To market successfully the distributor has to target the appropriate audience.
-The distributor markets the film and develops an appropiate advertising campaign.

-In charge of getting the film out to audiences.
-Receive an age certificate by regulation bodies such as the BBFC and MPAA.
-Arrange exhibition outlets globally and DVD/Television.

Film Title Mock Ups- Ground Hog Day

Above i am showing the first three mock ups for the title sequence 'Ground Hog Day'. As you can see our group decided to go with the black and white theme and due to it being a British film we would include the landmarks of London. From looking at these three mock ups i think you can see the idea we thought for the title sequence which was to base it around the London landmarks to notify people that it is a British film.
